Nineteen measles patients were found in Morang district in the past one month. According to the District Health Office (DHO), 19 children were diagnosed with measles at Bardanga and Dainiya settlements in Sunbarsi Municipality-7.
A team that had reached the settlements to distribute medicines of elephantiasis saw the measles-infected children. “The measles spread in the settlements due to a lack of timely treatment,” said Ramananda Yadav, the immunisation officer at the DHO.
According to him, the guardians did not take their children to health institutions believing that they were cursed by god.
Yadav said the DHO, in coordination with the local representatives, provided treatment to the infected children. Health condition of two children, according to Yadav, is critical. They are receiving treatment at Rangeli Hospital.
